Ink Recreation: Sunflowers

This piece is a recreation of Van Gogh’s iconic Sunflowers, rendered in ink and alcohol marker. The vibrant colors and bold outlines capture the essence of the original while adding a modern, textured twist. Van Gogh created several versions of Sunflowers during the late 1880s, showcasing his fascination with the beauty of everyday objects.

The series is famous for its use of bright yellows and expressive brushstrokes, reflecting Van Gogh’s desire to convey warmth and optimism through his art. The original paintings were intended to decorate the room of his friend and fellow artist Paul Gauguin. In my recreation, I aimed to honor the energy and emotion of Van Gogh’s masterpiece while using a different medium to bring out the intricate details and depth of each sunflower.
